Blog Creation - Week #3

The Creation of Blogging.

Can you believe it! It’s week #3 already.

EDET class is getting more and more interesting.
This week was all about the creation of blogs.

The tasks were:
When the teacher came to class and announced that the task for the day was to create a blog, I thought to myself, “This should be interesting.”

Start your engine! Devices ready!......Set....Go!!!

The journey began..

was to go to www.blogger.com and there you’ll find a page to welcome you in all it’s technical glory.

was to click on the icon ‘create blog’ and from there the server lead me to a page where my general information was required. I filled out the slots with the appropriate information. What should be my name on blogger? So many ideas ran across my mind and then it hit me....Ah ha! I got it. To represent my lovely island and who I am I settled with the name ‘Tolian Tech Queen’ and continued my journey to the third stop.

What kind of blog would I have without greeting my readers?
So my

stop was to create a welcome post to greet my readers. I began searching for a welcome image on google images. It was that serious, I had to make my welcome appeal to anyone who come across my blog and it had to express who I am.  The quest was over, there it was, the image just waiting to be selected.
I then use my creative skills and created a welcome. I then clicked on the button ‘publish’ and just like that I was finish, my welcome page was awaiting the lucky viewers.

step was to customize my blog. I selected a theme for the time being with the promise to spice it up later.

The

stop lead me to the creation of pages as a gadget on my home page. I had to click on layout on the default blogger page and scroll down under the heading ‘side bar’ and select pages as a gadget and save the arrangement.

It's not over  just yet the journey have a few more stops.

avenue, Bus stop! Its time to add an author to contribute to my blog. On the default page for blogger I had to scroll down and there I saw the option to add author. I clicked on ‘invite author’ and added a classmate of my choice. The invitation was sent  and accepted and now I had an author to contribute to my blog.

The journey was nearing an end, just two more stops to go.

Step. I had to click on ‘View blog’ and go to the author’s blog and comment on his/her welcome page.

Finally we've arrived to final stop. Unbuckle your seat belts, it was time to reflect and blog, the viewers are waiting.

I worked on my first entry and published it so  others can share my experience.

There were many challenges faced during this week’s lesson. At first it was difficult to find a theme that had a simple layout that would be easy to follow. I also had the problem of making my welcome image the right size to fit under the words that correspond with the picture. It was also challenging to get my pages to show on the side bar of the home page but as I explore my blog I became invincible in not only adding blog pages but in customizing my entire blog as well.

Blogging will be so ideal for the classroom because it allows students to reflect on what was being taught in class and it also serves as a technique for participation.

Stay tuned for more blogs!!
